Multi Site Rehab Center Exceeds 3/4 Million in Industrial Rehab Sales
In 2002 Sports Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists was looking to expand their industrial rehab program and looked to OccuCare Systems and Solutions to assist. Sports Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists is a multi site outpatient physical and occupational therapy company with 16 sites between Chicago, IL and Milwaukee, WI. They were looking to build larger 
centers that focused on the treatment of the workers’ compensation patient and implemented the full gamete of OccuCare industrial rehab services.
The year prior to an overhaul of their programming they performed under 100 industrial rehab services compared to seeing 600 workers compensation patients per year. Paul Schmidt, Vice President of Clinical Operations stated “Too many of these patients were going to our competitors when it came to specialized workers’ compensation services like Functional Capacity Evaluations and Work Conditioning. We also were not maximizing our patient care for our existing workers compensation patients”
Following a minimal investment Sports Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists began performing higher quality FCE’s using OccuCare’s Functional Capacity Evaluation desktop software package. They also implemented work conditioning in all 16 clinics as well as Functional Progress Notes™, Functional Discharge Summaries™ and Job Demand Analysis. “Physicians began noticing our higher quality FCE’s and the comprehensiveness of our 
Functional Progress Notes. Not only did we significantly upgrade the quality of the products we offered our customers but saw an increase in the number of work comp patients being referred to our clinics” reported Paul.
Sports Physical Therapy and Rehab began seeing an immediate jump in the number of workers’ compensation patients entering their program and within two years they were doing in excess of 500 industrial rehab services per year not only on existing patients but on new FCE and work conditioning referrals.
SPTRS realized a 635% return on their investment within two years and now consistently exceeds $750,000 per year in industrial rehab sales.
In 2006 OccuCare launched their web based Online Assessment Application and Michelle Paulowske, OTR/L, CEAS, Director of Industrial Rehab reported, “when using the Online Assessment Application I can complete my FCE documentation in about 15 minutes which makes me more productive and less stressed to perform these high level evaluations”.
